Mercer Foundation for Health Benefit Dinner to Support Memory Care and Community Education for Alzheimer's

ALEDO-The Mercer Foundation for Health (MFH) continues with its commitment to quality health care for the Mercer County area at their Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction scheduled for September 1, 2016. Proceeds from this year's event will support the opening of Memory Care@Genesis Senior Liv-ing, Aledo; staff training for those working with Alzheimer's residents and families, and community educations for family and community members.

The 2016 Facts and Figures Report by the Alzheimer's Association shows that 5.4 million Americans have the disease, and close to 16 million others act as caregivers. Those numbers are expected to rise as the population ages. In Illinois, an estimated 220,000 residents have Alzheimer's disease, which causes progressive memory loss and intellectual deficits. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that in 2012, - 6.87 percent or 207 individuals of Mercer County's aging residents were affected with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

Social Hour will be-gin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and concluding with the silent and live auctions of items donated by generous businesses, organizations and individuals. Auction items include fun, get away destinations; items to pamper you; meals to local restaurants; and tickets to hockey and baseball game s.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased from any Mercer Foundation for Health Board member or by contacting Melissa Seefeld at 309 582-9253.

Ticket price includes social hour, full dinner meal with dessert and an eighteen dollar deductible contribution to the Mercer Foundation for Health.

Through the years, MFH has contributed to quality health care for the area through: the purchase of state of the art equipment; provision of funds to improve facilities; grants to organizations who also improve health; and by providing financial support to educational opportunities that improve health and well-being.
